John Maclean Foundation Relay Teams event is sold out.

John Maclean Foundation LogoIronman Western Australia will once again incorporate the John Maclean Foundation Relay Event into the Ironman race, held on Sunday, December 5, 2010. World Triathlon Corporaton is proud to be partnering with the John Maclean Foundation in 2010 to continue what is a special and worthwhile cause to change the lives of young Australians who use wheelchairs. The foundation, through support and funds raised through the relay event, helps to inspire, motivate and enable these great kids to chase their dreams.

Out of every relay entry fee for Ironman Western Australia in 2010, $150 AUD will be donated to the John Maclean Foundation. For more details on entry, see below.

Registration & Entry

  • The 2010 JMF Relay Teams event is sold out. Please note, there is no waiting list.
  • By entering the event and completing the Active.com registration, all relay team members recognise and accept the conditions of entry. All members should read the Athlete Information Guide document when it is made available later in the year to acknowledge the latest rules and regulations for the event and also the specific separate rules for teams.
  • The Relay Team Captain has the responsibility to make sure all relay team members are acquainted with each other's personal details and contacts for emergency purposes and be fully aware of the entry and waiver conditions.
  • All team members will also be required to sign a hard copy waiver release and indemnification document at registration.
  • Triathlon Australia (TA) membership is optional for the Relay event. Those Relay team members who are not members of TA will receive a One Day Race Membership (ODRM) during the Active.com registration, which will cover for personal injury and public liability insurance but only during the actual Race.
  • All competitors taking part in the relay event must be 18 years of age or older on race day - Sunday, December 5, 2010.
  • Members of a Relay team are ineligible for a qualifying slot to the 2011 Ford Ironman World Championship, held in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.
  • A Relay team can be made up of 2 or 3 athletes . A team can be made up of any combination of male and female athletes. All teams are eligible for awards.
  • There are four (4) Relay teams categories - Male, Female, Mixed and Corporate.
  • The World Triathlon Corporation reserves the right to accept or reject any applications at its own discretion and may also issue special invitations.
  • Team members must complete the following:
    • - the swimmer to complete the 3.8km swim course
    • - the cyclist to complete the 180.2km bike course
    • - the runner to complete the 42.2km run course

Changes

  • Relay team members may be substituted at any time until 3pm on Saturday, December 4, PROVIDED new team members present themselves at event registration or at the race office and sign the event waiver. Any teams racing with an athlete who has not signed the event waiver will be disqualified and all team members will be ineligible to race any WTC event in the future.
  • Any Relay team member withdrawing after 5pm on Thursday, December 2 2010 will render the withdrawal of the entire team and no refund of Team entry will apply unless the remaining members decide to race as a 2 person team. If the latter is the case, please advise race organisers as soon as possible.

Medical & Safety

  • The medical question section of the application must show full details of all Medical conditions, general health and surgical procedures within the previous twelve months. Medical consultation/clearance may be necessary from a medical practitioner prior to acceptance into the Ironman Western Australia Relay Teams Event . In all cases, the final decision of medical consideration is at the discretion of Ironman Western Australia 's Medical Director.
  • It is the responsibility of the Relay team Captain to ensure all Relay team members are acquainted with each other's personal details for emergency purposes and be fully aware of these entry conditions.

Obligations

  • All Relay team members must register in person on either Thursday, December 2 from 12.00pm-4.00pm or Friday, December 3 from 9.30am-3.30pm. Registration can also be completed on Saturday at 11 am by special arrangement with the Relay Coordinator.
  • All Relay team Members must attend the compulsory race briefing starting at 9.30am on Friday, December 3 and orientation meeting immediately following the compulsory race briefing.

Race Day
Race week schedule to be made available in the coming weeks

  • Relay cut off times:
    • Swim Course - 2 hours 20 minutes after Relay Race Start
    • Bike Course - 10 hours 15 minutes after Relay Race Start
    • Run Course - 16 hours 45 minutes after Relay Race Start
  • If a relay swimmer and/or cyclist fail to complete their leg within the cut off time the Team will be allowed to continue in the event but will be classified as Did Not Finish (DNF). Where the swimmer misses the cut off, the cyclist will be the last competitor to commence the bike leg; where the cyclist misses the cut off, the runner will be the last competitor to commence the run leg and the Team will be classified as Did Not Finish (DNF).
  • Should a Team runner fail to complete the course within the cut off time the Team will be classified as Did Not Finish (DNF).
  • Each Team member will receive a "Relay Competitor Souvenir Medal" provided the team has not been disqualified. Relay members will be required to return their medals if the Relay Team is subsequently disqualified by the Race Referee after finishing.

Refunds

  • Withdrawal requests must be received in writing via E-mail to westernaustralia@ironman.com. Early withdrawal requests received before 5 p.m. AEST on Friday, October 1, 2010 are eligible for a partial refund of $315.00 AUD. After this date without exception, all requests must be received on or before 5 p.m. AEST on Friday, November 5, 2010 to be eligible for a partial refund of $200.00 AUD. Transfers or deferrals are NOT permitted.

Tax Deduction

  • From every relay entry, $150 AUD is donated to Ironman Western Australia's official charity - the John Maclean Foundation. This is tax deductible, with a tax receipt available from the John Maclean Foundation by emailing jmf@synergysport.com.au.

About the event

Ironman Western Australia takes place in the scenic coastal town of Busselton on the Western Australian coast. The course is flat and fast, but the Australian summer makes the quest for that personal best even more challenging. The 2010 event will have a new look for carbo & award banquets, registration, expo & more!
